Installation now is complete on a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) that will deliver improved wireless coverage, capacity and data speeds for Verizon Wireless customers on every floor, in every showroom and exhibit hall across the three-building, 7 million square feet AmericasMart campus in downtown Atlanta.
AmericasMart Atlanta is a global wholesale marketplace housing the world’s single-largest collection of home, gift, area rug and apparel merchandise. AmericasMart owns and operates 14 annual Markets and shows, the largest of which are The Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market and The Atlanta International Area Rug Market with buyers from every U.S. state and more than 90 countries.
Installation of the DAS has been completed in time for the January 2013 markets – The Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market® and The Atlanta International Area Rug Market® featuring the National Oriental Rug Show (NORS). January market buyers and sellers who are Verizon Wireless customers should expect to experience Verizon Wireless service across the AmericasMart campus.
The Verizon Wireless partnership achieves a major milestone in AmericasMart’s mission to create optimal business advantages for all customers, said Jeffrey L. Portman, Sr., president and COO of parent company AMC, Inc.

The DAS includes separate antenna locations mounted throughout the campus to boost network strength and capacity. In addition to ensuring calls are successfully connected, the DAS allows smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices to access the Internet, send text messages and quickly share photos and videos to social networking sites.
Coverage encompasses all AmericasMart and Atlanta Convention Center at AmericasMart spaces to deliver wireless transmission in all environments, including interior corridors, loading docks and areas shielded by marble and stone wall and floor construction.

Additionally, Verizon Wireless products and services will be available for purchase onsite starting with the January 2013 markets. Another carrier’s customer can sign up for Verizon Wireless service at any Verizon Wireless location or at the Building 1 lobby kiosk during the January Market. The Verizon Wireless sales representative will port their existing number to the new cellular unit.
